Postby Judy on Wed Jun 24, 2009 10:58 am

Hi all,

my husband has this lovely wollen jumper than continually needs de=pilling, can anyone tell me
if there is a way to stop if from pilling in the first place?

Thanks,

There's not really anything you can do to stop pilling. Pilling happens because short fibres have come loose from a strand and become felted in a sense on the surface of the fabric. I believe in most cases after enough removal of pills there is an eventual slowdown of new pills. Even top quality cashmere jumpers can pill.

I'd suggest careful removal of the existing pills and gentle washing.
